The Welsh Assembly Government offers SMART Awards for projects which show a high degree of innovation and technical novelty.

SMART Cymru Award 2003
Electronica won its first SMART Cymru Award in 2003 followed by a further substantial grant to carry out the Industrial Research and Pre-Competitive Development stages in 2006. This award was for the design and development of 3 and 5 phase permanent magnet brushless dc motors with electronic magnetic gearing capabilities.

SMART Cymru Award 2008
Electronica won its second SMART Cymru Award for the development of a liquid cooled IP55 vector drive inverter for induction motor control. The patent-pending IP55 liquid cooled 2.2kW inverter drive is nearly half the physical size of any commercially available IP55 inverter drive.
